Turf Moor

3:00pm KO

A late Ragnar Klavan header in the 94th minute was enough to secure the three points for Liverpool as they sustained late pressure from Burnley.

The first hour of the game non-eventful but it was Liverpool who broke the deadlock in the 61st minute when Sadio Mane picked up a deflected Alexander-Arnold cross. Mane put the ball onto his left foot and hammered it into the roof of the net. This was Mane’s first goal since the Champions League tie against Spartak Moscow.

Liverpool looked comfortable right up until the very end with three minutes to go when Johan Berg Gudmundsson latched onto a Sam Vokes flick on at the far post to head in an equaliser which looked like it would spoil the New Year’s party for Liverpool.

However, in the dying seconds of the game, Liverpool snatched a late winner through an unlikely combination. Dejan Lovren rose highest and the Croatian’s header looked to be going into the far post but it was the Estonian Ragnar Klavan who raced to the far post to make sure as he headed in into an empty net for his first Premier League goal and secured a massive three points for the reds who are now level on points with fierce rivals Manchester United.
