After a 0-0 draw away to Huddersfield, Burnley will now face Liverpool at home on New Year’s Day. The hosts welcome back defender James Tarkowski after his three match suspension. Striker Chris Wood is a doubt for the clash as he remains sidelined with a leg injury and Stephen Ward is also a doubt for the game with a knee injury.
Meanwhile Liverpool could be without top scorer Mohamed Salah who limped off in the victory against Leicester City. Simon Mignolet will retain his position in goal after Loris Karius started the game against the foxes. The reds are also expected to start Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dominic Solanke as Klopp rotates his side for the busy period.
Burnley currently sit 7th in the Premier League with 34 points after having two successive draws whereas Liverpool currently sit 4th and are currently unbeaten in 12 premier league games.
The previous fixture at Anfield ended in a draw with Scott Arfield and Mohamed Salah scoring for their respective sides.
