Seattle Seahawks vs Atlanta Falcons

Week 6 sees the in-form Atlanta Falcons visiting the Seattle Seahawks in what promises to be a high scoring entertaining game.

The Falcons are coming into the game with high spirits, they defeated the current Super Bowl Champions Denver Broncos 23-16 at Denver in a terrific defensive performance. They held Paxton Lynch to only 1 TD and sacked him 6 times. Atlanta also forced 3 turnovers from the Broncos.

Atlanta have won their last 4 games including victories against Carolina and New Orleans. They have the number 1 offence in the league with Matt Ryan putting in stellar performances week in week out. Matt Ryan currently has 1,740 passing yards with 12 TD’s and 2 INT’s. He has a 121.6 RPG which is the highest in the NFL.

One of the reasons Ryan and the Falcons has been efficient throughout the season is because of their offensive weapons. They have arguably one of the best WR’s in Julio Jones, a brilliant RB in Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman as well WR Mohammed Sanu who was an off-season acquisition from the Bengals. Jones is averaging 21.5 yards per play with the Falcons with 517 receiving yards and 3 TD’s. Both Freeman and Coleman 6 TD’s between them.

In last weeks win against the Broncos, we saw Coleman burst through Denver’s defence putting up 132 receiving yards with a TD to his name. If Atlanta can continue to play the way they did in the previous 4 weeks, then Seattle will have a tough time come Sunday.

Seattle are currently 1st in the NFC West with a 3-1 record. They’re coming off a bye week which came at the right time. QB Russell Wilson has been battling with injuries over the last few weeks therefore it gave him the chance to recover back to full fitness. A healthy Russell Wilson is something the Falcons don’t want to see. Last season, Wilson broke multiple franchise records including passing yards and TD’s. We haven’t seen the same Wilson since, with an average performance against Miami and the Los Angeles Rams.

However, ever since the defeat against the Rams, the Seahawks have slowly been replicating the form we saw last year. The addition of TE Jimmy Graham has boosted the team massively since he was injured for the majority of last year with a knee injury. Graham has had back to back 100 yard games and the connection between Wilson and Graham is slowly clicking. RB Thomas Rawls is still nursing an injury therefore back up RB Christine Michaels has been leading the backfield and he has been doing a tremendous job so far.

This will be a close game between the two sides with the defence play a major role in the game. With Atlanta’s offence, it will be interesting to see how the Legion of Boom can contain them.
